Sony 2nd Generation BSI Sensor Reverse Engineered by Chipworks

Chipworks blog presents some finding from reverse engineering of Sony IMX050C extracted from Casio Exilim EX-FH100 camera. The sensor is 10MP 1.65um pixel-based 2nd generation BSI product, probably used by other companies as well.

Chipworks preliminary findings indicate the CIS from the Sony ISSCC 2010 presentation is a match to the IMX050C from the Casio camera. Also, this is the first time that Chipworks team sees BSI sensor packaged with embedded passive components in the chip carrier (X-Ray images):

Chipworks also published a nice teardown report revealing other details of the Casio EX-FH100 camera.
